Technical Specialist Identity & Access Management
ApplyResearch and education are increasingly using online applications. Fundamental to this is access to these applications by the right people - user-friendly, secure and trusted. Do you want to be the crucial link in this? Highly available infrastructure, privacy, security, open source software development and open standards: that makes you happy! Will you join our team?
Where you will work
SURF is the ICT cooperative of Dutch education and research institutions. Together with them, we work on digital services and complex innovation issues with an important social task: raising the quality of education and research. As technical specialist Identity & Access Management, you will contribute by helping to build an indispensable foundation - identity and access - for all students, lecturers, researchers and staff in the sector.
The team you will join
The Trust & Identity team is a team with several subject matter experts. We are experts in authentication and authorisation (such as SAML, OpenID Connect), infrastructure (such as Linux, Ansible, Docker) and (open source) software development (we develop our own services ourselves in Java, Python and PHP, among others). Our service portfolio consists of SURFconext, SURFsecureID, eduID and SURF Research Access Management (SRAM). Want to know more? Check https://www.surf.nl/themas/identiteits-toegangsbeheer.
We love team spirit, cooperation and collegiality: because everyone has or has built up his or her own specialization, we share a lot of knowledge and ask each other for feedback. Your personal development is therefore very important to us: depending on what you bring and what you want to specialize in, together we look at which activities and responsibilities suit you best!
What you will do
Together with the product manager, you are responsible for SRAM services. You are responsible for operations, further development and architecture. You will also think about how new features can best fit into the platform, you will be in contact with customers and users, for instance about technical integrations with their systems, you will manage the developer(s), you will test the delivered work and execute new releases.
You will have the space to follow, explore and contribute to new (technological) developments and standards. Via proofs of concept and pilots, you test new functionalities and ideas. In doing so, you always keep public values in mind, such as autonomy, privacy and transparency.
What else you will be involved in
- You will contribute to the Trust and Identity team's vision, roadmaps and new services.
- You ensure that the services meet SURF's (technical) quality requirements such as availability, security and privacy.
- You think along with other technical specialists about challenges and solutions for their services.
- You maintain an internal and external relationship network and (international) partnerships.
Your skills and experience
- You certainly don't have to know everything (yet) when you start with us - we will give you plenty of room to develop and specialise. You have a basis in devising and developing (open source) applications and/or setting up and managing servers and infrastructure.
- You are inquisitive and understand that we at SURF only get further together. You listen to our members, spar with colleagues and share your knowledge as you see fit.
- You have strong communication skills, both in Dutch and in English, and feel at home in a team of experts. You have a preference for scientific research and you value public values. You have a university level of education and at least 1-5 years of relevant work experience.
- You have up-to-date knowledge of and demonstrable (coordinating) experience with modern internet protocols, digital services and/or software development.
- It is an advantage if you have experience with scientific research and/or identity and access management services, but it is certainly not required!
SURF takes pleasure in doing its recruitment itself; acquisition is therefore not appreciated.
