Manager Internal IT
ApplyWithin the Business Information Management unit, you will be responsible for internal IT services. You will be the point of contact for the entire SURF organisation and an active stakeholder manager. At the same time, you will raise the professional level of the department and your own teams in relation to these internal customers by managing processes and results with empathy. We are looking for a decisive colleague, not a meeting tiger.
Where you will work
SURF is the ICT cooperative for Dutch educational and research institutions. Together with them, we work on digital services and complex innovation challenges to enhance the quality of education and research. As Internal IT Manager, you will make an important contribution to this by providing high-quality services to the SURF organisation at a tactical and operational level.
The team you will join
Internal IT consists of two teams, Information Management (16) and Operations (16). Information Management includes seven product owners or service owners, three functional administrators, two programmers and three advisors. Operations consists of the internal service desk and technical management, each with eight people. Including temporary staff, Internal IT has approximately 35 colleagues. As team leader of Information Management, you will fulfil a dual role, which means that in addition to being team leader, you will also be IT manager and therefore the point of contact for the business unit director.
What you will do
As IT Manager and Head of Information Management, you will perform the following tasks:
- Manage and coach employees. Ensure that employees develop, contribute optimally to the goals of the organisational unit, and are and remain deployable.
- Collaborating within and outside your own organisational unit(s) – ensuring cohesion and contributing significantly to the cohesion and efficiency of the implementation of the organisational objectives
- Coordinating matters at a tactical/strategic level with the business unit director
- Acting as Team Leader of the Information Management team. This includes all HR tasks normally associated with a team leader, such as team management and managing day-to-day operations.
- Ensuring the operational planning of activities, including budgeting and periodic financial reports from Operations.
- Actively manages stakeholders within SURF and ensures positive visibility within SURF.
- Is the “linking pin” for all matters delegated to Internal IT by the business unit director. This last point is important because it is not yet clear who will fulfil this role and what the exact details will be.
Your skills and experience
- You translate organisational objectives into operational and tactical IT solutions for the SURF organisation.
- You ensure that the team can work safely and predictably, but also that employees are challenged to improve themselves in a demonstrable way.
- You work in a systematic manner and communicate this effectively, both within Information Management and the rest of SURF.
- You know how to get things done in an organisation where careful consultation is sometimes more important than making decisions and acting on them consistently.
- You are able to set priorities in all your work and stick to them.
- You are consistent and predictable in your actions (wysiwyg). We are explicitly not looking for a consultant.
Prior to starting this job, a VOG must be presented.
SURF takes pleasure in doing its recruitment itself; acquisition is therefore not appreciated.
