IT Project Manager
ApplyAre you an IT project manager who enjoys initiating and managing projects for the further development of our ICT infrastructure? Do you enjoy working with infrastructure that is spread across multiple locations? And do you want to make SURF services accessible for research and education? You also bring structure, know how to strengthen project management and ITIL processes, and offer professional guidance to teams in realising and operationalising new services for our customers. Do projects in the field of service (further) development, organisation and processes, legacy systems and data centres make your heart beat faster? Then we are looking for you to join our team!
Where you will work
SURF is the ICT cooperation organisation for Dutch higher education and research. We support researchers from all scientific disciplines in the areas of data management, high-performance computing (supercomputers) and visualisation. To this end, we work closely with various research communities and other providers of expertise and ICT facilities. We do this in the national and international research field. Together, we improve the quality of education and research with our digital services and complex innovation issues.
The team you will join
The Operations team within the Internal IT department supports SURF with system, network and data centre services. We also provide office automation and cyber security services in close collaboration with the Information Management team, which is also part of Internal IT. Together, we ensure that the functionality, performance and continuity of these services continue to meet the needs of SURF and our members.
We want to keep our services up and running and realise our ambitions. That is why we continuously manage a range of projects. You translate needs and new initiatives into clearly specified projects. You then work these out with a team of colleagues (and often third parties). Together, you will come up with great and often innovative ICT solutions. You will work with your colleagues, both within Internal IT and beyond, in a pleasant, informal and collegial atmosphere.
What you will do
You are responsible for starting up, managing and bringing projects to a successful conclusion. Clear reporting is naturally part of this. You work closely with your colleagues and stakeholders and ensure that your projects are successfully implemented in the organisation. You have projects within your own department and more broadly within SURF, for which you collaborate with other departments and external parties. Your primary project method is Agile with the Scrum framework.
Other tasks you will handle
In project management:
- You convert new initiatives into project plans. This includes clear (and achievable) project objectives with scope, planning and budget.
- You coordinate the background, reason and objective of the project with stakeholders and members, ensuring support.
- You maintain relationships with stakeholders regarding the results of projects or influences. You safeguard the expectations of the client or steering group and other stakeholders, in accordance with applicable guidelines and quality standards (such as information security and privacy).
- You monitor project performance and take immediate action in the event of deviations.
What else you will do:
- You will act as an expert within the organisation in the field of project management and the associated processes.
- You will record the knowledge and evaluations of a project, collect and share knowledge about the projects.
- You maintain your knowledge of various project methodologies.
- You contribute to project management policy and draw up associated tools, guidelines and standards.
Your skills and experience
- You have a higher professional education (HBO) or university education (WO) level of thinking and working and more than 5 years of work experience;
- You have excellent technical and communication skills, a good command of spoken and written Dutch and English;
- You have knowledge of and experience with project management methodologies;
- You have knowledge of and experience with ICT and managing ICT projects;
- You preferably have knowledge of and experience with Agile, Scrum, ITSM and ITIL.
Prior to starting this job, a VOG must be presented.
SURF takes pleasure in doing its recruitment itself; acquisition is therefore not appreciated.
