Asset Manager Network Services

Are you someone who likes to have everything in order in terms of network equipment and contracts? Do you make sure all the figures are exactly right so you always have an overview? And are you also a good communicator who keeps our suppliers on their toes and can set up efficient processes? Then you are the right person for the position of Asset Manager Networks.

Where you will work

SURF is the ICT cooperative for Dutch educational and research institutions. Together with them, we work on digital services and complex innovation challenges to enhance the quality of education and research.

The team you will join

The Network Operations team consists of 10 people. We are responsible for the SURF network. The focus is on the construction (expansion, modification or renewal) and management (24x7 monitoring, incident management) of the network. We also manage the network assets. These are all the hardware (routers and switches), software and licences we need to run the network.

In addition to the Network Operations team, there are three other network teams. Together, we ensure that SURF's network has the best connectivity and provides state-of-the-art network services for higher education and research in the Netherlands. Every Monday we have a fixed office day, so all network teams meet physically at least once a week.

What you will do

As asset manager, you are responsible for procurement, logistics and stock management of all network equipment within SURF. For your colleagues at SURF, you are the service-oriented employee who arranges purchasing and logistics of network equipment properly. For the suppliers, you are the business business partner who closely monitors the process and contractual conditions. For management, you are the one who provides clear overview of all these activities.

• You are responsible for the administration of all our network equipment from procurement to disposal (recycling).
• You receive purchase orders from various teams and buy hardware, software, licences and support from our regular partners.
• You carefully manage all the equipment we have purchased over the entire life cycle of the products. In this, you are the spider in the web.
• You work closely with our broker Nomios, who purchases most of our equipment, and with our management partner Quanza who manages the warehouses and the network.
• You keep track of our building stock and spare stock, and ensure that our production stock is always under support from the manufacturers. You also provide our finance department with reports for insurance purposes.
• You create purchase orders and check invoices. You understand and keep an overview of the income, expenditure and value of our contents.

Your skills and experience

• You have at least hbo working and thinking level. You are thorough, structured and service-oriented.
• Besides your solid structure, you are open to improvements or initiate them yourself, you are communicatively strong and you are a team player.
• You have experience with contract management and (financial) administration.
• You have experience in managing management parties and suppliers.
• You have experience with stock management and its administration.
• You have excellent oral and written skills in Dutch and English.
• If you have knowledge of and affinity with the world of education or research, this is an advantage.
