A good salary
It is what it says: a good salary. Because we believe you need to be as happy about your pay as you are with your work.
Enough vacation days
You get 36 holiday days per year (based on full-time employment). Would you rather receive more pay, with fewer holidays? Or vice-versa? Then take advantage of the salary-leave exchange option.
Holiday pay and end-of-year bonus
You will receive an 8.33% holiday pay and an end-of-year bonus equivalent to a full 13th month’s pay.
Free public transport
With our NS-Business Card, you’ll always travel 1st class. And you can use the card for personal travel too!
A generous pension
We pay the majority of your pension, so you can focus on your career.
Lunch in the SURFclub
Enjoy lunch for less than 3 euros in the SURFclub. Choose from a buffet of sandwiches, salads, yoghurt and fruit.
Office and working hours
Centrally located in Utrecht
Our office in Utrecht is located just a stone’s throw from Utrecht Central Station. Join us for a foosball match or a game of darts!
Amsterdam Internet Junction
Our office in Amsterdam is located at the Science Park, the home base for the supercomputer Snellius. Join us for some air hockey or a game of ping pong!
Work where you want to
Work in Utrecht or Amsterdam, at one of our member institutions, or in the comfort of your own home. You can even work abroad for up to 6 weeks per year.
Flexible working hours
Not a morning person? Then just start work a bit later. Want to get home early? Then work a bit longer on another day.
Home office compensation
For the days you work from home, you receive compensation for an Internet connection and for furnishing your home office.

We encourage you to attend relevant conferences, and we provide a budget for specialist training courses.
Internal knowledge sharing
SURF also organises many training courses itself, taught by experts in your field. We invite you to share your knowledge as well!
