Project and communication support

Where you will work
SURF is the ICT cooperative for Dutch educational and research institutions. Together with them, we work on digital services and complex innovation challenges to enhance the quality of education and research.

The team you will join
The Procurement & Delivery unit purchases jointly, makes compliance agreements, and delivers ICT to SURF members. An important part of this involves agreements on privacy and secure data processing. This is done by the SURF Vendor Compliance team. We conduct privacy and security risk analyses on various suppliers that are frequently used within the education and research sector. We also make agreements with suppliers, supervise, provide information, and support SURF members in compliance processes. Examples of our work can be found on our Vendor Compliance website.
Over the past year, the SURF Vendor Compliance (SVC) team has grown into a great team of nine people. The team is characterized by enthusiasm, energy, and professionalism. Enjoyment is an important component, which we also incorporate into team events that we organize at least once every quarter. We encourage personal growth through participation in courses and (international) conferences. These conferences are often also a great opportunity for team building.
What you will do
You are a full member of the project teams, which consist of a project lead/relationship manager, privacy lawyer, security expert, and technical expert. This means you will be working closely with the entire team. The aim of your work is to ensure that services and projects run smoothly. Your role consists of two components: project support and communication support.
Project support
- You manage and structure received documentation and contribute ideas about process optimization.
- You plan resources, consultations, and kick-offs, both internally and with external suppliers.
- You monitor the progress of DPIA projects (planning, progress, delivery of documentation, communication) and keep track of this in our planner;
- You develop and maintain checklists for the DPIA process;
- You take care of the administrative start and completion of projects, such as setting up Teams environments and conducting surveys.
Communication support
- You will assist in drafting documents related to user adoption, such as manuals and FAQs, and add the finishing touches to these documents;
- You will collect lessons learned and help translate them into process improvements;
- You will organize webinars and take care of the associated communication;
- You coordinate all internal communication with the corporate communication team and keep our own website up to date;
- You ensure high-quality translations of our DPIAs and reports (NL-EN);
- You manage our general mailbox.
Your skills and experience
You are curious, ambitious, and enterprising. You take your work seriously and are sharp when it comes to content, but gentle and smiling toward the team and your colleagues. You actively share knowledge within the team and are also open to learning. With your analytical eye, accurate working methods, and focus on results, you know how to bring structure and get things done.
In addition, you have
- MBO+ level of working and thinking and analytical skills;
- A precise and results-oriented working style;
- Strong communication skills;
- Excellent verbal and written command of Dutch and English (due to international suppliers);
- An affinity with ICT & education and developments in these fields (technical knowledge is not a requirement); The ambition to take the next step in your career.
