Product Manager Generative AI for Education

Apply

Are you an experienced product manager who thrives on innovation in a social context? Would you like to help build a new service that enables educational institutions to use generative AI safely and responsibly? Then this is your chance to make an impact as Product Manager Generative AI for Education.

Where you will work

SURF is the ICT cooperative of Dutch education and research institutions. Together, we develop digital services and work on complex innovation issues to improve the quality of education and research. We do this in close collaboration with the institutions themselves, with an eye for public values, and as openly and open source as possible.

The team you will join

You will become part of the Education Innovation team within the Open and Accessible Research & Education unit. From there, you will work exclusively on a project within the national Npuls programme: EduGenAI. This is a service currently under development that supports educational institutions in the safe and responsible use of generative AI.

Working at SURF means working for a unique and open organisation. This is evident in everything: the structure of the organisation, the set-up of the project teams, the culture in our offices and the atmosphere among colleagues. SURF offers excellent terms of employment and takes a flexible approach to work/life balance. Employees enjoy working independently. In addition, everyone is given the space and freedom to use and develop their talents as effectively and broadly as possible.

What you will do

As EduGenAI product manager, you will take the lead in developing, designing and growing this new product. You will move smoothly between vision, strategy and implementation and know how to take various stakeholders along on the journey from experiment to reliable service provision. You will give direction to the vision, roadmap and positioning, connecting needs from educational practice with technological possibilities. You will also guide the service from idea to scalable solution. In doing so, you will work closely with teachers, administrators, developers and architects. In this way, you will contribute directly to the way in which generative AI makes Dutch education future-proof.

In concrete terms, this means that you will:

  • develop a product vision and design and implement the roadmap together with stakeholders;
  • translate the wishes and feedback of educational institutions into functional requirements;
  • design business models and revenue models that are in line with public values and the SURF cooperative;
  • monitor the balance between innovation, feasibility and social values;
  • work closely with the technical product manager and development teams to translate concepts into a scalable service;
  • supervise pilots and proof of concepts and guide them towards sustainable implementations;
  • inform, connect and actively involve stakeholders in the development process.

Your skills and experience

  • You have a higher professional education (HBO) or university education (WO) level of working and thinking and at least 5 years of experience as a product manager or in a similar role.
  • You have experience with innovation projects, preferably at the intersection of technology and education.
  • You are skilled at translating user needs into functional specifications.
  • You have knowledge of or affinity with AI and digitisation in education.
  • You have experience with stakeholder management and guiding co-creation processes.
  • You are results-oriented, organisation-sensitive, maintain an overview in a dynamic playing field and have a feel for cooperation and political relationships.
  • You have strong communication skills and persuasiveness, in both Dutch and English.

SURF takes pleasure in doing its recruitment itself; acquisition is therefore not appreciated.
