Where you will work

SURF is the IT cooperative for Dutch educational and research institutions. Together with them, we work on digital services and complex innovation challenges to enhance the quality of education and research.

As Education Innovation Project Leader, you will make an important contribution by applying your expertise to various innovative solutions for our members: the educational institutions. Projects are diverse and always focused on IT in education. You could, for example, think about implementing a new platform where teachers can find good educational applications or lead a project around Learning Analytics.

The team you will join

You will join the Innovation Core Team in the Education Facilitation team. The team works on themes such as Future Campus, XR in education and Digital testing. You will collaborate with colleagues inside and outside education innovation and with staff from educational institutions. In most of our projects, we work with our members on solutions that best help them. You will also work a lot with colleagues from Npuls and actively contribute to the results of this growth fund program.

What you will do

You are a real connector and ensure that project members can do their work optimally. You are happy when processes run smoothly and switch quickly when necessary. Under your leadership, projects flourish and with your contribution you and your colleagues drive innovation in secondary and higher education!

  • You manage and monitor project staffing, finances and planning.
  • You will monitor the synergy between the various components of the projects; in addition, you will monitor the synergy and collaboration with Npuls and projects and programms within SURF;
  • You make the results and impact of the projects visible;
  • You supervise and implement activities within the project. Examples include:
    • You organize meetings alternately online and at SURF on location, with the aim of discussing joint IT needs and exchanging knowledge;
    • You devise and monitor a strategy for innovation together with institutions and partners;
    • You safeguard public values in the projects; in addition, you monitor the agreements fit within the agreed standards and architecture.

Your skills and experience

  • You act as a bridge builder: you connect technology, education and policy by communicating clearly. You also have sufficient IT insight to make the right choices.
  • You are education-sensitive: you understand educational practice and think in terms of user needs.
  • You are flexible and solution-oriented: you adjust to changing requirements and challenges.
  • You are stakeholder-oriented: you create support and involve the right people at the right time.
  • You have a college+/university working and thinking level and knowledge of project methods such as Agile, Scrum or PRINCE2; in addition, you have extensive experience in project management and managing professionals;
  • You have excellent communication skills and are result-oriented; in addition, you have an excellent command of Dutch and English;
