Domain architect Agile Education

Apply

Do you want to collaborate on innovative systems for students and teachers and contribute to the future of education? Then we have the challenge for you! We are looking for a domain architect to build a platform for agile organized education. In this role, you will be responsible for the architectural principles and design on which the platform is based. If this is something for you, we would love to hear from you!

Where you will work

The National Growth Fund programme Npuls is an eight-year programme aimed at improving the quality of our education system. Npuls works closely with SURF, the IT cooperative of Dutch education and research institutions. Npuls sets the strategic direction for the future of education, while SURF provides the technological infrastructure and innovative it solutions that enable us to achieve our strategic goals. As a domain architect, you will make an important contribution to this.

The team you will join

You will work in the Flexible Education team at SURF. This multidisciplinary team develops and manages services that help educational institutions organize their education more flexibly. This gives learners more control over their own learning route. Together with your colleagues and experts from the educational institutions, you create a coherent portfolio of services. The team's activities are related to the developments within Npuls, which has flexible education and learning without barriers as important pillars.

What you will do

You will build the digital environments of the future. You will do this within SURF together with the (technical) product managers within the Education Services department and team Flexible Education, and from Npuls with colleagues from various chain partners such as Studielink. You design education platforms in the form of a domain architecture, and feel ownership of it. The domain architecture serves as a basis for the technical product managers to develop solution architectures.
The first platform you will work on is the platform for agile organized education. Part of this platform includes a sector facility for registering, enrolling and subscribing to education and educational units.

What else will you be involved in

  • You translate the needs of educational institutions into solutions within the educational platforms.
  • You are the link between the enterprise architect, technical product managers, suppliers, developers and educational institutions.
  • You implement architecture principles of SURF and the education sectors and contribute to their further development.
  • You help develop standards for data exchange in educational processes and advise colleagues on their application.
  • You contribute to the strategy and long-term visions of projects and programmes.
  • You actively seek coherence in the service portfolio of agile education, involving relevant stakeholders inside and outside SURF.
  • You participate in national working groups and consultations on architecture.

Your skills and experience

  • You get excited by topics related to education and flexibilization.
  • You have technical and tactical insight, combined with a healthy pragmatic attitude.
  • You enjoy working together and you easily establish relationships between different areas of knowledge, components of SURF and Npuls, and developments at educational institutions. You have PhD-level thinking, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience;
  • You have a thorough understanding and knowledge of architecture issues and ICT strategies, their developments and their significance for universities, universities of applied sciences and intermediate vocational education institutions;
  • You have knowledge of and experience with privacy-by-design and security-by-design;
  • You can express yourself effortlessly in both Dutch and English (SURF has a bilingual policy);
  • You preferably have knowledge of or experience/a network at educational institutions and national reference architectures, such as the Education Reference Architectures (HORA & MORA) or the Education Sector Architectures (HOSA & MOSA);
  • You preferably have experience with Archimate.

SURF takes pleasure in doing its recruitment itself; acquisition is therefore not appreciated.
