Where you will work
SURF is the IT cooperative for Dutch educational and research institutions. Together with them, we work on digital services and complex innovation challenges to enhance the quality of education and research. Quality and compliance processes are crucial for all these services and projects, and this requires a structural knowledge base for all 600+ SURF employees. As compliance officer training and awareness, you are responsible for this internal training programme.
The team you will join
You will be working in the Quality, Purchasing and Legal Affairs (QPLA) team. At SURF, we do things properly because we want to (quality), not just because we have to (compliance). This team consists of about twenty members. These are the officers in the field of security, privacy, AI and CSR and all central lawyers and buyers. This team also coordinates strategic quality and risk management. This position of compliance officer; training and awareness is integral to the whole team and all subjects. The focus is on security, privacy and AI.
The team members are passionate and involved in many different dossiers and subjects. We also work together a lot with other colleagues throughout SURF. At the same time, we know how to find each other for fun activities, a drink or just to have lunch together.
What you will do
You create a single training plan for all subjects within KIJ and you are the link to the SURF-wide HR training programme. You do this with literal training courses and workshops and with knowledge sessions in which experts inspire each other. You also develop practical templates and examples from practice, or help other KIJ team members who are dealing with these.
The ultimate goal is for SURF employees to know how to efficiently fulfil quality and compliance within their own work and responsibilities. Specific target groups include software developers, service owners and MT members. The exact definition of the right target groups is part of this job.
Others tasks you will handle:
- You will set up an integral KIJ curriculum;
- You will design training courses and knowledge sessions for the various target groups; in addition, you will work structurally on knowledge sharing within KIJ and keep it up to date;
- You will edit all internal KIJ information;
- You will provide some of this training; you will help your fellow KIJ team members and train them to give sessions themselves;
- You can rely on your colleagues within KIJ for the expert content of the learning programme. We also have internal information available, as do members of SURF. So you can familiarise yourself with the material in various ways.
Your skills and experience
- You have a demonstrable affinity with quality and compliance topics such as security, privacy and AI.
- You are good at asking in-depth questions to experts in the field in order to get to the heart of the matter.
- You can use an educational approach to quickly make complex content understandable to a layman. You are creative in the resources and media you use.
- You think in terms of learning objectives and use them as the basis for a training programme, course, presentation video or blog. You do this from the perspective of your target group.
- You are comfortable presenting to groups, such as during a training programme or webinar.
- Strong communication skills and a good command of both Dutch and English.
