Where you will work
SURF is the ICT cooperative for Dutch educational and research institutions. Together with them, we work on digital services and complex innovation challenges to enhance the quality of education and research.
The team you will join
You will join the Internal Services department, in team Operational Support, a fast-growing team within SURF responsible for system, network and data centre management, office automation, cybersecurity and service desk services. You will work closely with around 20 colleagues, spread across five teams, in an informal and pleasant working environment.
Together with your team, you are responsible for ensuring the stability, performance and security of our data centre networks. You and your colleagues ensure that the infrastructure is continuously improved and new functionalities are developed. You do this according to the agile methodology and the scrum framework.
What you will do
As a Microsoft Engineer, you are responsible for the various Microsoft environments. In doing so, you ensure the stability, performance, continuity and security of the Microsoft environment.
This includes:
- Ensuring the seamless operation of the Microsoft environments, including by monitoring applications, implementing improvements and actions to guarantee capacity, performance, continuity and security;
- Knowledge of Office 365, (A)AD, ADFS, Windows 2019, Exchange (and optionally InTune);
- Supports Information Management with translating functional questions into solutions;
- Ensures proper set-up of management and support processes (ITIL) and documentation;
- Regularly analyses incidents past period, initiates ‘changes’ that help prevent incidents and you help improve services by seeing how things can be handled smarter, including opportunities to transfer activities to 1st and 2nd line support.
Your skills and experience
- Hbo/wo working and thinking level;
- Good command of the Dutch and English languages, both verbally and in writing;
- Experience with project-based working, preferably Agile;
- Knowledge of ITIL processes
