Facility Manager (housing)
ApplyAre you an all-round expert in the field of accommodation who can oversee the big picture, participate at strategic level, and act at tactical level? Do you like being the point of contact for all building-related questions of your colleagues at SURF? Do you translate strategy and policy to the shop floor? And do you not shrink from jumping into the breach operationally for your team in case of emergency? Are you looking for a role in which you develop and practically implement strategic policy? Then we are looking for you!
Where you will work
SURF is the ICT cooperative for Dutch educational and research institutions. Together with them, we work on digital services and complex innovation challenges to enhance the quality of education and research.
You will work closely with this team
As Facility Manager (housing), you work especially closely with the Head of the Facility team to optimally coordinate hard- and soft-services. Together, you will ensure efficient use of space and effective set-up of all facilities. Furthermore, the Facility team consists of 14 team members; hospitality and service are central within the team.
What you will do
As Facility Manager, you are the expert in building management within our organisation. You do not manage a team, but you are the first point of contact for building-related matters. You play a key role in both the day-to-day operations and the strategic future of our accommodation.
What else will you be involved in
- You develop and implement strategic housing policy and multi-year maintenance plans (MJOP).
- You advise on space usage: more or less space, renting, letting or selling.
- You coordinate quality controls and contract management of, among other things, cleaning.
- You are responsible for building management, installations, inventory and contract management.
- You take the lead in new construction and renovation projects and manage the associated budget effectively.
- You identify relevant changes in legislation and regulations and translate these into policy proposals.
- You purchase services, materials and facilities.
- You do first-line invoice control, budget monitoring and financial administration.
- You are point of contact for performers and suppliers.
- You actively contribute to sustainability and the optimisation of facility processes.
- You work independently and solve daily technical problems where necessary. Furthermore, you do contract management and negotiate with (sub)tenants: you are the point of enquiry for parties renting from us.
Your skills and experience
- You have a completed college education, preferably in Facility Management, Construction or Real Estate. In addition, you have demonstrable experience in facility and technical management.
- You are meticulous, stress-resistant and can switch well between operational and strategic levels.
- You have an affinity with technology and sustainable solutions.
- You are strong in planning, organising and monitoring progress, quality and budget. In addition, you take initiative, communicate clearly and enjoy working with others.
- You are approachable, reliable and easily connect with a diverse group of colleagues.
SURF takes pleasure in doing its recruitment itself; acquisition is therefore not appreciated.
