Consultant and AI Projectleader for Education

Do you have proven knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) and an affinity with its application in education? Do you see opportunities to improve and innovate education with the help of AI, but also have an eye for risks? Are you a solid networker who can connect different stakeholders? Where you will work

SURF is the IT cooperative for Dutch educational and research institutions. Together with them, we work on digital services and complex innovation challenges to enhance the quality of education and research. As a consultant and project leader of AI for education, you will be part of this.

The team you will join

You will join the innovation team in both Utrecht and Amsterdam. Our team is ambitious, innovative and we love the latest technology. We are also open, positive and sociable and almost always work in the office. In project teams of 3 to 6 people, we alternately work individually and as a team. We also share monthly tips and tricks with each other.

In winter, we have a skiing trip, we have drinks every Friday and we organize game nights. We also go hiking together and to top it all off, we have a Christmas quiz, which involves a year of preparation.

What you will do

The big question you are concerned with is: how can we innovate and improve education responsibly with AI? You are the connecting link between SURF departments and the outside world. There, you work on service provision and innovation. Furthermore, you look for new opportunities for collaborations and concrete projects. You look at the needs within education and the possibilities from SURF AI and initiate and lead experiments and projects. This ranges from ethics to integrating AI in educational environments. What else you engage in:

• You see opportunities and look at how to position SURF on AI within existing and new activities in education.
• You define and manage concrete AI projects and experiments.
• You are AI consultant for institutions on technology, policy and ethics
• You advise colleagues and institutions on the possibilities of AI. You do this by giving training courses and lectures, among other things.
• You stimulate and support collaborations between institutions.
• You organise knowledge transfer activities, e.g. webinars, lectures and courses.

Your skills and experience

• Hbo/wo work & thinking level, in the field of artificial intelligence, with 3 or 4 years of work experience;
• You have a demonstrable interest in the application of AI in education and demonstrable experience in managing projects;
• You work independently and pick up tasks easily on your own, but also work excellently together in a team;
• You get energy from networking, presenting and communicating within and outside the organisation;
• You speak and write Dutch and English at a professional level and you are open to new developments and new ways of working.
