IT Project Manager
ApplyAre you an IT project manager who enjoys starting up and managing projects for the further development of our IT infrastructure? Do you enjoy working with infrastructure that is spread across multiple locations? And would you like to make SURF services accessible for research and education? Do projects in the field of service development, organisation and processes, legacy systems and data centres make your heart beat faster? Then we are looking for you to join our team!
Where you will work
SURF is the IT collaborative organisation for Dutch higher education and research. We support researchers from all scientific disciplines in the fields of data management, high performance computing (supercomputers) and visualisation. To this end, we work closely with various research communities and other providers of expertise and IT facilities in the national and international research field. Together, we increase the quality of education and research with our digital services and complex innovation issues.
The team you will join
The Internal Services department supports SURF with system, network and data centre services. We also provide office automation and cyber security services in close collaboration with the Information Management team. Together, we ensure that the functionality, performance and continuity of these services continue to meet the needs of SURF and our members.
We want to keep our services up and running and realise our ambitions. That is why we are constantly managing a range of projects. You will convert needs and new initiatives into clearly specified projects. You will then develop these with a team of colleagues (and often third parties). Together you come up with beautiful and often innovative IT solutions. You work with your colleagues, both within Internal Services and outside, in a pleasant, informal and collegial atmosphere.
What you will do
You are responsible for starting up, managing and bringing projects to a successful conclusion. Clear reporting is, of course, part of the job. You work closely with your colleagues and stakeholders and ensure that your projects are successfully integrated into the operation. You have projects within your own department and more broadly within SURF, for which you collaborate with other departments and external parties. You use Agile with the Scrum framework as your primary project method.
Other tasks you will handle:
In project management:
- You convert new initiatives into project plans. This includes clear (and achievable) project objectives with scope, planning and budget.
- You coordinate the background, reason and objective of the project with stakeholders and members, and ensure support.
- You maintain relationships with stakeholders regarding the results of projects or influences. You safeguard the expectations of the client or steering committee and other stakeholders, according to applicable guidelines and quality standards (such as information security and privacy).
- You monitor project performance and carry out direct interventions in case of deviations.
What else you do:
- You act as an expert within the organisation in the field of project management and the associated processes.
- You record the knowledge and evaluations of a project, and collect and share knowledge about the projects.
- You maintain your knowledge of various project methodologies.
- You contribute to the project management policy and draw up the associated tools, guidelines and standards.
Your skills and experience
- You have a university degree and a level of thinking and working ability to match, and more than three years of work experience;
- You have excellent technical and communication skills and a good command of the Dutch and English language, both spoken and written.
- You have knowledge of and experience with project management methods.
- You have knowledge of and experience with IT and managing IT projects.
- You preferably have knowledge of and experience with Agile, Scrum, ITSM and ITIL.
Prior to starting this job, a VOG must be presented.
SURF takes pleasure in doing its recruitment itself; acquisition is therefore not appreciated.
